Privacy policy

This policy explains how SHRND LTD, registered in England and Wales under company number 17350332, processes personal data when you use the ChatMontage iOS app or website, or contact support. SHRND LTD is the data controller for that processing.
Your content
- Projects and their contents are stored on your devices and synchronised through your iCloud account. Screenshot text recognition takes place on your device. SHRND LTD does not receive or store this content unless you choose to send it to support. You can manage and delete it in ChatMontage, and iCloud synchronises those changes.
- Sharing happens only when you choose it. When you share an export, it is sent to the app or service you select. That app or service handles the export under its own terms and privacy policy.
Usage and diagnostic data
We use Google Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how ChatMontage is used and to investigate crashes and technical errors. Both are enabled by default. You can turn either one off independently in Settings under "Sharing Data with Us". The available controls are "Share Usage Data" and "Share Crash Reports". Turning a switch off controls whether ChatMontage sends that category of data in future. Data already sent remains subject to the retention periods below. This data may include:
- Usage activity: screens and features used, project creation, exports, and interactions with subscription offers.
- App and device information: app version, iOS version, device model, language, approximate region, and installation identifiers generated by Firebase. We do not collect precise location.
- Crash and error reports: stack traces and diagnostic information about the app and device when a crash or technical error occurs.
Firebase does not receive the contents of your projects or exports. Firebase associates the usage, crash, and error information described above with identifiers generated for the app installation. We do not provide Firebase with your name or email address, and ChatMontage has no user accounts. We do not use this information for advertising, sell it, or use it to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Google retains Analytics data at user and event level for 2 months. Aggregated statistics in standard reports may be retained for longer. Crashlytics keeps crash and error reports and their associated identifiers for 90 days before beginning to remove them from its live and backup systems.
Purchases
Apple processes subscriptions and payment details. ChatMontage receives information about the subscription product and whether the subscription is active so that it can provide Pro features. When "Share Usage Data" is enabled, Firebase receives the subscription product and price, the outcome of purchases and restore attempts, and whether Pro is active. SHRND LTD does not receive payment card details.
Permissions we may ask for
ChatMontage uses the camera and microphone only when you choose to capture a photo or video. It uses photo library access only when you save an export. Imports use Apple's picker, which gives ChatMontage access only to the items you select.
Website and support
To provide and secure the website, our hosting provider processes standard request data, including IP addresses and requested pages. If you contact support, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send so that we can respond and investigate the issue. We retain this information only for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes and to meet our legal obligations.
We process subscription information because it is necessary to perform our contract with you and provide Pro. We rely on our legitimate interests to operate, secure, support, and improve ChatMontage and the website. Where our providers, including Google and our providers of website hosting and email services, process personal data outside the UK, we use safeguards recognised under UK data protection law where required. We require providers acting on our behalf to protect personal data in accordance with this policy and applicable law. Contact us if you would like more information about these safeguards.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against accidental loss and unauthorised access, use, alteration, or disclosure.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a portable form. Contact us to exercise these rights or to ask us to delete identifiable support correspondence. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
ChatMontage does not require an account or ask users for their age. If you are a parent or guardian and have concerns about a child's personal data, contact us.
Changes
We may update this policy. If we materially change how we use personal data, we will give notice where required. The date above shows the current version.
